Agentic Access Management is a security model for controlling what AI agents and other non-human identities can reach, modify, and delegate. Unlike traditional access management, it focuses on software that acts on behalf of people or systems, often using APIs, service accounts, and short-lived credentials. The goal is to verify not just who is authenticated, but what an agent is authorized to do at each step.
This matters because autonomous tools can move quickly across cloud apps, data stores, and admin functions, creating risk if permissions are too broad or poorly traced. In attacks, criminals may abuse delegated access, prompt injection, or stolen tokens to make an agent perform harmful actions. In defense, teams apply least privilege, session-based controls, strong audit trails, and policy checks that bind actions to a specific owner, task, and context.
