The AI Omnibus is an amendment package that simplifies some implementation steps of the EU AI Act while keeping its core protections in place. It does not remove the risk-based model; instead, it is meant to make compliance easier to operationalize through clearer guidance, standards, and documentation paths.
In cyber security, this matters because AI governance is increasingly treated like an engineering control set, not just a legal checklist. For high-risk systems, organizations still need evidence of accuracy, robustness, cybersecurity, logging, and human oversight. In practice, the Omnibus affects how teams build, test, and prove those controls. Attackers benefit when AI systems are deployed with weak oversight or poor documentation, while defenders use the same framework to harden models, trace decisions, and support audits.
