AI-powered defenses are security tools that use machine learning or other AI methods to help detect threats, prioritize alerts, and support incident response. They can score suspicious activity, correlate logs from many sources, spot patterns that humans may miss, and draft recommended actions for analysts. In practice, they are usually assistive rather than fully autonomous, especially in high-risk environments.
These systems matter because modern attacks generate too much data for manual review alone. AI can speed triage and reduce alert fatigue, but it also creates new security risks: attackers may poison training data, evade detection with carefully crafted inputs, extract model behavior, or abuse sensitive prompts and outputs. Defenders therefore treat the AI layer as part of the security perimeter, with access controls, monitoring, human review for major decisions, and rollback plans for model changes.
