AI4Science is the use of artificial intelligence to support scientific discovery, analysis, and experimental planning. In practice, it helps researchers process large datasets, generate hypotheses, rank candidates, and design experiments across fields such as chemistry, biology, materials science, and medicine.
In cyber security, AI4Science matters because scientific workflows increasingly depend on models, datasets, and automated pipelines that can be attacked. Adversaries may poison training data, steal proprietary models, or manipulate results in ways that look scientifically valid. Defenders also use AI4Science-style systems for malware analysis, anomaly detection, and faster triage of research data. The key security controls are strong data provenance, reproducible pipelines, access control, and independent validation, because a convincing AI output is not automatically a trustworthy one.
