Annualized revenue is an estimate that takes revenue earned over a shorter period and projects it across a full year. For example, multiplying one month’s revenue by 12 produces a simple annualized figure. It can indicate a business’s current pace, but it is not the same as revenue actually earned over a year, cash received, or profit. The estimate can change with seasonality, growth, timing, and the method used to calculate it.
In cyber security, annualized revenue may appear in company disclosures, investor analysis, or assessments of a security provider’s financial position. Comparisons can mislead if figures use different periods or treat partner-mediated sales differently. Analysts should check what revenue was counted, the time window, and whether the figure is a projection or a reported full-year result. A projected run rate is a financial measure, not evidence by itself of a security incident or wrongdoing.
