Anti-phishing controls

Security features that help detect, block, or investigate deceptive messages and link-based attacks.

Anti-phishing controls are security features and procedures that help detect, block, or investigate messages designed to deceive users. They can include email filtering, link and attachment scanning, domain and sender checks, user reporting tools, and alerts for suspicious sign-in activity. Their purpose is to reduce the chance that a deceptive message leads to credential theft, malware infection, or account misuse.

In real attacks, a fake calendar invitation may direct a recipient to a fraudulent login page. Mail defenses can flag or quarantine the invite, while investigation tools help security teams trace it and respond to reports. Controls are not guarantees: a message may evade detection, so user awareness and phishing-resistant authentication, such as FIDO/WebAuthn, provide additional protection if a password is exposed.
