Bing results

web search answers pulled from Microsoft’s search service and shown inside Windows.

Bing results are web search answers pulled from Microsoft’s search service and shown inside Windows Search. Instead of returning only local files, settings, or apps, the search box can also display online content and suggestions from the cloud.

In cyber security, that matters because any feature that reaches outside the device can affect privacy, policy, and user behavior. Extra web results increase the chance that a user clicks a misleading or malicious page, especially in search-poisoning or typo-squatting scenarios. In managed environments, administrators may disable Bing results to reduce remote lookups, keep search behavior predictable, and limit exposure to unneeded web content. Defenses include policy controls, user awareness, and safer browser and search filtering.
