BNB Smart Chain

A public, EVM-compatible blockchain network that supports smart contracts.

BNB Smart Chain is a public blockchain network that is compatible with the Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM). That means it can run smart contracts and interact with tools built for Ethereum-style applications. It is designed for low transaction costs and fast, on-chain interactions.

In cyber security, this matters because attackers can abuse smart contracts as a staging or reference layer for malware. Instead of hosting a payload on a single server or domain, they may store links, encrypted data, or command instructions in contract state or contract-controlled data paths. That makes takedown and blocklisting harder, since the blockchain itself is distributed and not controlled by one operator. Defenders may see the network used in EtherHiding-style campaigns, where malware fetches its next-stage instructions from smart contracts. Useful telemetry includes suspicious clipboard-paste behavior, shell launches, obfuscated command lines, and outbound requests to blockchain RPC endpoints.
