A business analyst (BA) is a professional who translates business goals into clear requirements for technology or process change. The BA sits between stakeholders and delivery teams, shaping user stories, acceptance criteria, and process maps so everyone builds toward the same outcome. In security work, that translation is critical because vague or incomplete requirements can become insecure design, weak controls, or missing audit trails.
Business analysts also handle process details, stakeholder information, and operational data that may be sensitive. That makes them a target for social engineering and a risk point for data leakage, especially when AI tools are used to draft notes or summarize meetings. Good security practice treats the BA output as controlled evidence: verify source material, limit access to sensitive inputs, and keep requirements traceable so changes can be reviewed, tested, and approved.
