Charged droplet

a liquid drop that carries electrical charge and may interact differently with a surface.

A charged droplet is a tiny liquid drop that carries net electrical charge. That charge can change how the drop spreads, sticks, evaporates, or interacts with a surface compared with an uncharged droplet. In practice, the effect depends on the liquid, the material, and the surrounding humidity or electric field.

In cyber security, charged droplets matter in the physical environment around exposed systems: outdoor sensors, cameras, antennas, industrial controllers, and other hardware. If moisture carries charge, it can influence corrosion, contamination, and long-term reliability, which can become an availability problem or create weak points for tampering. Defenders reduce the risk with sealed enclosures, drainage, coatings, grounding, and inspection for unusual wear patterns. The term is useful whenever environmental physics affects the security and uptime of equipment.
