Commercial fee

a recurring fixed charge for supply and service management.

A commercial fee is a recurring fixed charge added to a service bill for supply, account handling, or service management. Unlike usage-based charges, it does not change with consumption, so it appears every billing cycle at the same amount.

This matters in cyber security and other technical services because fixed fees can hide the real cost of a platform, cloud connection, or managed security contract. When teams compare vendors or forecast spend, they need to separate commercial fees from variable usage charges and pass-through items. In fraud detection and invoice review, a fixed recurring fee is also a useful signal: unexpected changes, duplicate charges, or unauthorized subscriptions can stand out if the billing model is understood clearly. For defenders, the key check is simple: identify which lines are fixed, which are metered, and which should be audited against the contract.
