A corporate network is the collection of systems and connections an organization uses to support its business, including internal services, devices, and access to applications and data. Traditionally, security models treated this network as a trusted zone, separated from the less-trusted internet by a perimeter.
That assumption matters less when employees work remotely and use cloud services from many locations. In real attacks, a compromised account or device may provide a route to internal resources; defenders therefore use identity checks, device security, segmentation, monitoring, and access policies rather than relying on network location alone. Being connected to a corporate network should not automatically mean a user or device is trustworthy.
