Cross-device support is a feature that lets the same account, license, or session work across more than one platform or hardware type, such as a console, PC, phone, or cloud client. In software distribution, it is often tied to entitlement checks that decide whether a user can access content on a different device than the one they bought or first used.
In cyber security, this matters because access is no longer bound to a single machine. Security teams must protect account recovery, token reuse, device verification, and license validation so that legitimate users keep access while attackers cannot steal it. Weak implementation can lead to unauthorized content access, confused entitlement states, or abuse of trusted sessions across platforms. Defenders often respond with stronger authentication, synchronized backend checks, and revocation controls that can invalidate access everywhere at once.
