A deceptive website is a page built to mislead visitors into trusting it or taking an unsafe action. It may imitate a legitimate service, present a fake warning, or create urgency to persuade someone to share credentials, download a file, or run a command.
In cyber attacks, these pages are often part of social engineering: the site steers the user into completing a step that helps the attacker. For example, a ClickFix-style lure may claim that a problem needs fixing and instruct the visitor to copy and paste a command. Defenses can include browser warnings that flag suspicious pages or risky actions before they happen. Such warnings add a useful layer of protection, but users should still verify a page’s legitimacy and avoid running commands supplied by an untrusted site.
