A decision model is an AI system that returns a bounded choice, class, or score instead of open-ended text. Rather than generating a long answer, it selects from a limited set of outputs such as allow/deny, spam/not spam, or route to human. That narrow output makes it easier to integrate into software that needs fast, structured decisions.
In cyber security, decision models are useful for alert triage, risk scoring, content filtering, and escalation logic. They can be easier to log, threshold, and audit than free-form generative models. The security risk is over-trusting the result: a small classification error can trigger the wrong action, especially when confidence is low or the input is noisy or adversarial. Good defenses add thresholds, fallback paths, and human review for borderline cases.
