The Defense Manpower Data Center is a U.S. Department of Defense personnel data center that stores central records about service members, employees, dependents, and other identity-related information. It can include names, dates of birth, Social Security numbers, contact details, and military status data.
In cyber security, DMDC-like systems are high-value targets because they support identity verification, benefits administration, and internal trust workflows. If attackers gain access to these records, they can use them for fraud, impersonation, account takeover, and targeted social engineering. Even a brief access flaw can have long-term impact because personal identifiers are hard to replace.
