Dual-fuel

A commercial bundle that combines electricity and gas under one plan.

Dual-fuel is a commercial utility bundle that combines electricity and gas under one contract. Instead of managing two separate services, the customer usually gets one account, one bill, and one set of terms. In home energy products, that can also mean app-based management, fixed pricing, and automated customer workflows.

In cyber security, dual-fuel matters because consolidation creates a single point of trust. If an attacker compromises the account, they may be able to view billing data, change contact details, alter payment settings, or trigger support workflows. Defenders reduce that risk with multi-factor authentication, strong identity verification, least-privilege access for support staff, and clear audit logs. The term also appears in phishing and social-engineering scenarios, where attackers use knowledge of bundled services to make fake account notices or password-reset messages seem legitimate.
