Employee ambassadors are staff members who speak for an organization, formally or informally. In cybersecurity, they often help explain policies, promote secure behavior, and relay trusted messages to customers, partners, or other employees. Because their voice feels personal and authentic, they can improve security awareness more effectively than a generic notice.
The same trust that makes them useful also creates risk. Attackers may impersonate an employee ambassador, hijack a social account, or exploit an over-shared internal role to spread false information, request sensitive data, or bypass normal approval steps. Defenders should define who may speak for the company, protect their accounts with strong authentication, and keep message approval and escalation paths clear. Good ambassador programs reduce confusion; poorly governed ones can become a social-engineering surface.
