Ethereum transfer

A blockchain transaction that moves value or records activity on the Ethereum network.

An Ethereum transfer is a blockchain transaction that moves ETH or records activity on the Ethereum network. Every transfer is written to a public ledger, which makes it durable, searchable, and easy to analyze after the fact. Although it is designed for normal payments and smart-contract interaction, the same mechanism can also carry small pieces of data or reveal a wallet address connected to other activity.

In cyber security, Ethereum transfers matter because attackers can abuse them as a low-cost signaling layer or as a way to hide infrastructure behind ordinary blockchain traffic. Malware may inspect on-chain data at runtime to recover a command server, verify a trigger, or identify a reusable attacker wallet. Defenders use the same visibility for hunting: wallet tracing, transaction analysis, and correlation with endpoint telemetry can expose suspicious dependencies, covert coordination, or recurring operator accounts. An Ethereum transfer is not malicious by itself, but it can become an indicator when it appears in unexpected software or automation.
