EuroQCI

A European initiative focused on quantum-secure communication infrastructure.

EuroQCI, the European Quantum Communication Infrastructure, is an EU initiative to build communication networks that can support quantum-secure security services. In practice, it aims to connect governments, critical infrastructure, and research environments with links designed to protect sensitive data against advanced interception and future quantum-era threats.

For cyber security, EuroQCI matters because key exchange and transport protection are becoming strategic targets. Attackers may try to collect encrypted traffic now for later decryption, or exploit weak key handling and trust boundaries. Defenders use quantum-secure communication programs like EuroQCI to strengthen key distribution, improve resilience, and support migration to post-quantum cryptography. It is not a single product, but an infrastructure layer that helps organizations prove their communications can be trusted under stricter threat models.
