Exploit reproduction is the process of recreating a known attack path to verify that a vulnerability can be triggered under specific conditions. Researchers typically use technical details from a vulnerability disclosure, affected software or firmware, and a controlled test environment to build and run a proof of concept.
Reproduction helps defenders confirm whether a particular product version is vulnerable, assess practical risk, and test whether patches or mitigations work. In real attacks, reproducing a public flaw can help turn disclosure into a usable exploit; in defense, it should be done in an isolated, authorized lab. A successful lab test does not by itself prove that a system was attacked or that every deployed device is exploitable: versions, configuration, network exposure, and safeguards all matter.
