A fake AI installer is a deceptive webpage or setup flow that imitates installing an AI tool. It uses familiar branding or installation steps to make a user trust instructions that may be unsafe.
In reported ClickFix attacks, a fake installer may prompt someone to copy and run a command in a terminal or other command interface. This shifts the attack from downloading a conventional malicious attachment to persuading the user to start local execution. Defenders can reduce risk by teaching users not to run commands supplied by webpages, limiting script execution where practical, and monitoring for unusual shell or script activity following browser use.
