A fake trading platform is a fraudulent website or mobile app that pretends to offer investing or crypto trading services. It may copy the look of a real exchange or broker and show fabricated account dashboards, invented balances, fake price charts, or unrealized profits to convince users that their money is growing.
In cyber security, these platforms matter because they combine social engineering with payment fraud. Attackers use polished interfaces, chat support, and withdrawal controls to keep victims sending more funds, often by claiming taxes, commissions, or verification fees are required to unlock withdrawals. Defenders should treat unexplained profit screenshots, urgent deposit requests, and support agents who only communicate through the app as warning signs. Real services do not need secret fees to release funds, and legitimate account data should be independently verifiable.
