The FedRAMP Marketplace is the federal government’s public listing venue for cloud service providers and their FedRAMP authorization status. It helps agencies, contractors, and security teams find providers, see whether a package is in review or authorized, and compare the scope of a service’s compliance claims.
In cyber security, the Marketplace matters because it is a fast way to separate marketing from verified federal assurance. A listing can support procurement and risk review, but it is not the same as final authorization or proof that every deployment is secure. Defenders use it to check whether a vendor has documented controls, while attackers may try to exploit confusion around “listed” versus “authorized” to build false trust. For sensitive environments, especially remote access and critical infrastructure, the Marketplace should be treated as a starting point for due diligence: verify scope, current evidence, identity controls, logging, and the exact authorization status before granting access.
