Fixed-price contract

A tariff structure where the price remains unchanged for a set period.

A fixed-price contract is a tariff or service agreement in which the price stays unchanged for a defined period, such as 12 months. In utilities and other subscription services, it gives customers predictable billing and protects them from short-term price changes, but it also creates a formal commitment: the stated price, term, and renewal conditions must be accurate and consistently shown across apps, portals, and invoices.

In cyber security, fixed-price contracts matter because they are part of the digital trust layer around billing and account management. Attackers may try to alter contract details, misstate renewal terms, or trick users with fake “price change” messages that lead to credential theft or payment fraud. Defenses include strong authentication, signed records, access controls, and audit logs so customers and support teams can verify the contract terms and detect unauthorized changes.
