Fractional investing

A model that allows users to buy part of an asset instead of a whole unit.

Fractional investing is a model that lets a user buy part of an asset instead of a full unit. Instead of requiring enough money for one complete share, token, or other instrument, the platform records a smaller ownership or exposure amount. This lowers the entry point for users and makes high-value markets easier to access.

In cyber security, fractional investing matters because it increases the importance of accurate identity, balance, and entitlement tracking. A platform must keep fractional holdings aligned across wallets, ledgers, custody records, and settlement systems. If an attacker can tamper with rounding rules, reconciliation, or account permissions, small errors can compound into incorrect balances or unauthorized exposure. Defenses include strong audit logs, precise accounting controls, clear asset mapping, and frequent reconciliation between systems. In modern finance apps, fractional investing is convenient, but it also turns record integrity into a security control.
