GoFile is a file-hosting service that lets users upload and share files. In cyber-security reporting, a threat actor may reference GoFile links as a place to download allegedly stolen data. A link or password, including one advertised as becoming available after a countdown, does not prove that files exist, are accessible, or are authentic.
For defenders, treat such references as claims to verify rather than confirmation of a breach. Preserve relevant evidence, assess any available files safely, and compare suspected data with trusted internal records while protecting sensitive information. Confirming whether data is genuine and connected to an organization requires evidence; the hosting service itself does not establish who uploaded a file or how it was obtained.
