HTTP 200 response

A standard web reply meaning the server successfully processed the request and returned content.

An HTTP 200 response is a standard status code indicating that a web server successfully handled a request. For a request to retrieve a page or file, the response generally includes the requested content. It confirms that the server answered that particular request, not that the content was safe or that a user opened or ran it.

In cyber security, HTTP 200 responses can help analysts check whether a website or suspected payload path is reachable and serving content. Attackers may use working URLs to deliver files or scripts, while defenders monitor web logs and network traffic for requests to suspicious paths. A successful response alone does not prove malware execution or victim compromise; investigators need supporting evidence, such as endpoint activity, file analysis, or process and command-line telemetry.
