Identity resilience

the ability to recover identity systems and restore trust after disruption.

Identity resilience is the ability to recover identity systems, such as Active Directory, IAM platforms, or directory services, and restore trust in them after disruption. It is not just about bringing a server back online; it means proving that accounts, privileges, authentication paths, and administrative controls are clean and dependable again.

This matters because identity sits at the center of access control. If attackers alter accounts, trust relationships, or group memberships, a restored system can still be unsafe. In ransomware recovery, defenders often need to validate backups, compare configurations, reset credentials, and confirm that no malicious changes survived restoration. Strong identity resilience reduces downtime, limits reinfection risk, and helps organizations resume operations with confidence instead of guessing that recovery is complete.
