An Information Sharing and Analysis Center, or ISAC, is a trusted sector forum where organizations share threat intelligence, indicators of compromise, and defensive lessons. ISACs are usually built around a specific industry, such as energy, finance, or healthcare, so members can compare what they are seeing without exposing sensitive operational details broadly.
ISACs matter because many attacks begin with signals that look small in isolation: suspicious network traffic, phishing campaigns, vulnerable remote access, or abnormal behavior in operational technology. By pooling those observations, defenders can spot patterns faster, tune monitoring, and coordinate response before an incident spreads. In energy environments, ISACs are especially useful for sharing guidance on segmented networks, smart devices, and OT security, where one operator’s lesson can help others reduce blast radius and improve recovery.
