Invalid report

A submission that does not describe a real, reproducible security issue.

An invalid report is a security submission that does not describe a real, reproducible vulnerability. It may be a duplicate, a misunderstanding of normal behavior, a vague claim with no proof, or an automatically generated message that cannot be verified. In bug bounty and vulnerability disclosure programs, validity depends on evidence: clear steps to reproduce, affected assets, and a credible security impact.

Invalid reports matter because they consume triage time, delay response to real issues, and can overwhelm review queues. In practice, attackers or low-quality automation may flood programs with templated submissions to create noise or game reward systems. Defenders reduce this risk with scope rules, proof-of-concept requirements, deduplication, rate limits, and human review focused on reproducibility. Strong intake controls help keep disclosure channels useful instead of turning them into an operational bottleneck.
