IRAP-aligned assessment

A review shaped to map controls and evidence to IRAP-style security requirements.

An IRAP-aligned assessment is a security review that maps an organization’s controls and evidence to the expectations used in Australia’s IRAP framework. It typically checks whether a system can demonstrate access control, logging, encryption, change management, incident response, and governance in a way that an assessor can verify.

This matters because cyber security is not only about having controls, but about proving they work. In regulated procurement, an IRAP-aligned assessment helps buyers compare vendors on evidence, not claims. For defenders, it can expose gaps such as weak privilege management, poor audit logs, or undocumented exceptions before those weaknesses become attack paths. For attackers, those same gaps are often what make a target easier to misuse or harder to investigate. In practice, the assessment supports trust by showing that security is reviewable, repeatable, and tied to real operational controls.
