ITaaS means IT as a Service: a delivery model in which a provider manages technology functions for a client, such as infrastructure, identity, support, endpoints, backups, or cloud operations. Instead of owning and running every system directly, the customer consumes those functions through contracts, portals, and shared administrative controls.
In cyber security, ITaaS matters because it concentrates trust. A compromise of a provider can expose many customers at once, especially if attackers steal credentials, abuse remote management tools, or pivot through shared integrations. Attackers often target ITaaS environments for broad access, data theft, or extortion. Defenders should enforce least privilege, separate tenant administration, require strong authentication, monitor provider access, and test incident response around third-party dependencies. In practice, the security of ITaaS is only as strong as the identity controls and trust boundaries behind it.
