L-BTC

A Liquid token designed to track bitcoin held in reserve.

L-BTC is the Liquid Network’s Bitcoin-pegged token. It is meant to track bitcoin held in reserve, so one L-BTC should represent value that can be redeemed back into BTC when the system is functioning normally. In practice, it acts like a wrapped or tokenized form of bitcoin inside a sidechain environment.

In cyber security, L-BTC matters because its safety depends on both the reserve and the redemption machinery, not just on the token ledger itself. If reserves are moved, issuance is abused, or the network is paused, holders may be unable to convert tokens back into bitcoin. Attackers may target bridges, custody controls, or signing infrastructure; defenders focus on reserve audits, key management, pause procedures, and recovery paths. For users, the key risk is not only theft, but loss of exit liquidity when the underlying trust layer fails.
