An LDAP dump is an exported set of entries from a directory service that uses the Lightweight Directory Access Protocol (LDAP). Entries may represent users, groups, devices, or other directory objects. The term alone does not reveal which fields were included; exports can vary in scope and sensitivity.
In cyber security, a dump may expose account names or other organizational data that helps attackers target users, attempt password reuse, or map an environment. If credentials are included, they may enable access where those credentials remain valid, but the presence of a dump does not prove that logins worked or that an intrusion occurred. Defenders should secure directory exports, review access controls, reset credentials when exposure is plausible, and correlate gateway and directory authentication logs for suspicious activity.
