Livestreaming

Real-time broadcast of audio, video, or both to an audience.

Livestreaming is the real-time broadcast of audio, video, or both to an audience. Unlike posted content, live media is delivered as it happens, which leaves little time for review, editing, or removal before viewers see it.

In cyber security, livestreaming matters because it changes the threat model for moderation, abuse detection, and crisis response. Harmful content can spread faster than human reviewers can react, and real-time audio or video can bypass text-based filters. Attackers may use live sessions for harassment, social engineering, explicit content, or coordination in private groups. Defenders respond with session-level controls, reporting tools, automated detection, age assurance, and rapid takedown workflows. For platforms, the challenge is not only protecting accounts and data, but also limiting harm while the broadcast is in progress.
