Luna Service is the internal service layer used by LG webOS to let apps talk to system components and request device functions. It acts like a message bus and API hub between higher-level software and privileged processes, handling actions such as settings changes, hardware control, and other platform services.
In security terms, Luna Service matters because it sits near the trust boundary between ordinary apps and system-level capabilities. If an attacker can reach it through a vulnerable app, weak authentication, or an exposed local interface, they may be able to call functions they should not access and move toward command execution or privilege escalation. Defenders look for strict access control, service isolation, and patched firmware, since flaws in internal service layers can turn a limited foothold into broad device control.
