Managed installation

A setup where one Veeam component is centrally controlled by another.

A managed installation is a deployment in which one software component is installed, configured, or administered centrally by another component. For example, a backup management server may control agents running on separate Linux systems. This differs from a standalone installation, where the agent is managed locally.

The distinction matters in security because management relationships can affect which systems and versions are exposed to a vulnerability. A flaw reported only in managed Linux-agent installations may not apply to every agent deployment. Defenders should identify how each agent is installed and controlled, verify its version, and patch affected systems. Central management can simplify updates, but it also makes the management server and its authorization controls important parts of the security boundary.
