Management product

The administrative system used to configure and govern security infrastructure.

A management product is the administrative system used to configure, monitor, and govern security infrastructure such as firewalls, VPN gateways, certificates, and policy objects. It may be a central server, web console, or orchestration platform that pushes settings to many protected devices. Because it controls trust decisions and system behavior, it usually has broad privileges and access to sensitive data.

In cyber security, management products matter because they are high-value targets. If an attacker compromises them, they may change security policy, disable protections, steal credentials or certificates, and sometimes reach code-execution paths through the management interface itself. Defenders treat these systems as critical assets: restrict administrative access, isolate them from general user networks, patch quickly, require strong authentication, and review audit logs for unusual configuration changes or login attempts.
