Multichannel service is service delivery through more than one channel, such as a website, an assisted desk, a phone line, a kiosk, or a remote session. In cybersecurity, this matters because each channel adds its own trust boundary, identity check, and endpoint. A secure web portal may still be exposed if a call-center workflow, kiosk, or remote-support tool is weak.
Attackers often target the least protected channel to bypass stronger ones, for example by social engineering staff, abusing password reset steps, or exploiting poorly secured remote-access tools. Defenders reduce this risk with strong authentication, consistent access control, device hardening, segmentation, and centralized logging across all channels. Good multichannel design also needs a human fallback path so that automated systems can be overridden safely when something looks suspicious or fails validation.
