Non-determinism is behavior in which the same input can produce different outputs across runs. In AI systems, this can result from sampling, changing context, model updates, or other variable parts of the process. It makes results harder to reproduce and verify.
In cyber security, inconsistent outputs can complicate incident analysis, automated response, and testing: investigators may not be able to recreate what a system produced, while a defensive agent may take different actions on the same request. For analytics agents, recording the model and configuration, data source, query, filters, and output helps make answers auditable. Where consistent behavior is required, teams can constrain generation, use deterministic operations for calculations, and test outputs against approved definitions.
