OSS-Fuzz

Google’s continuous fuzzing service for open-source projects that helps discover bugs by testing with unexpected inputs.

OSS-Fuzz is Google’s continuous fuzzing service for open-source software. It automatically feeds programs large numbers of unusual, malformed, and randomly generated inputs to expose crashes, hangs, memory corruption, parser bugs, and other unexpected behavior. Instead of waiting for a human tester to find a flaw, fuzzing exercises code at scale and under many edge cases.

In cyber security, OSS-Fuzz matters because it helps defenders find weaknesses before attackers do. Bugs uncovered by fuzzing often affect file parsers, network services, compression libraries, and other components that process untrusted data. Security teams use the results to patch vulnerable code, harden test suites, and verify fixes. In vulnerability programs, an OSS-Fuzz reproduction can also serve as strong proof that a report is real and reproducible, which helps triage teams separate confirmed bugs from speculative or noisy submissions.
