Page architecture

the structure and layout of a webpage, including elements that influence how users move through it.

Page architecture is the structure and layout of a webpage: how headlines, menus, buttons, forms, pop-ups, ads, and content blocks are arranged, and how they guide a user’s movement through the page. It is more than visual design. The order and placement of elements can steer attention, hide options, or pressure a user into clicking, subscribing, sharing data, or accepting permissions.

In cyber security, page architecture matters because attackers use it to make phishing pages, fake login forms, and scam checkout flows look credible and feel urgent. A misleading layout can also support dark patterns, silent consent collection, or malicious redirects. Defenders review page architecture to spot suspicious third-party widgets, exposed forms, deceptive navigation, and interface tricks that influence user behavior. Good security design keeps critical actions clear, separates advertising from core content, and reduces opportunities for social engineering.
