PNT resilience is the ability to keep positioning, navigation, and timing services working when primary signals such as GPS are weakened, jammed, spoofed, or otherwise unavailable. PNT is not just about knowing where a platform is; it also supports synchronized communications, sensor fusion, targeting, and logging across digital systems.
This matters because modern military, aviation, maritime, and critical infrastructure systems often assume accurate location and time data. When that trust is broken, routes can drift, clocks can desynchronize, and automated defenses can misbehave. In real attacks, adversaries may use GPS jamming to block satellite signals or spoofing to feed false data. Defenses include inertial navigation, multi-constellation receivers, alternative time sources, signal authentication, and procedures that let operators switch to degraded-mode operations without losing control.
