Quality-system records

compliance and manufacturing documents used to track regulated production.

Quality-system records are documents that show how regulated products are designed, manufactured, inspected, and monitored. In medical-device manufacturing, they may include production and inspection logs, corrective-action records, supplier documentation, device history records, and evidence supporting regulatory compliance.

These records matter in cyber security because they can reveal sensitive manufacturing processes, product details, suppliers, and operational weaknesses. In an attack, criminals may steal or threaten to publish them as leverage; exposure can create regulatory, commercial, and patient-safety concerns. Defenders should restrict access by role, protect records with backups and encryption, monitor access and bulk downloads, and include them in incident-response and data-classification plans. A leak claim alone does not confirm that records were accessed or exposed.
