Quasar RAT

remote-access malware often associated with hands-on control after initial access.

Quasar RAT is a Windows remote-access trojan (RAT) that gives an attacker interactive control over an infected system. It can execute commands, upload or download files, collect system information, and help maintain persistence after the first compromise. Because it behaves like a legitimate remote administration tool, it can blend into normal activity if defenders only look for obvious malware signatures.

In real attacks, Quasar RAT is often used after initial access as part of a hands-on intrusion chain. It can serve as a bridge between a phishing lure, a loader, and later payloads such as ransomware or data theft tools. For defenders, signs include unusual outbound connections, suspicious startup entries, script-driven launches, or remote-control behavior from software that should not be present. Spotting the RAT early can stop attackers before they expand access or deploy their final payload.
