Readiness tagging

Labeling applications or access paths to show whether they are fit for agent use.

Readiness tagging is the practice of labeling applications, APIs, credentials, or access paths to indicate whether they are safe and suitable for AI agent use. A tagged system may be approved for delegated actions, while an untagged or risky path may be restricted, monitored, or blocked.

This matters because AI agents can move quickly across systems and inherit authority that exceeds their intended task. In defense, readiness tags help security teams decide which resources can be exposed to agents and which need extra controls such as least privilege, runtime monitoring, or workflow isolation. In attacks, poorly tagged or untagged paths can hide excessive permissions, letting a compromised agent or stolen credential reach sensitive services. Good readiness tagging supports auditability, faster incident response, and safer rollout of agentic automation.
