Real-time device navigation

Interaction with a phone interface as it changes, rather than following a fixed sequence of steps.

Real-time device navigation is the ability to interact with a phone or app interface as it changes, instead of following a fixed script of taps, swipes, and waits. The software reads what is on screen, chooses the next action, and adapts when buttons move, dialogs appear, or the user flow changes.

This matters in cyber security because it makes mobile malware more flexible and harder to block with simple rules. A rigid automation script can break when an app updates its layout, but real-time navigation can keep working across different screens and prompts. Attackers may use it to approve permissions, bypass warnings, or move through login and payment flows. Defenders look for behavior such as repeated navigation patterns, unexpected UI interactions, and suspicious accessibility or overlay abuse, since the danger is often the sequence of actions, not just the malicious file itself.
