Real-time form monitoring

A technique where attacker infrastructure can observe typed data during an active web session.

Real-time form monitoring is a phishing technique where attacker-controlled infrastructure watches what a victim types into a web form while the session is still active. Unlike a static credential-stealing page that only saves submitted data, a live kit can forward each field as it is entered, giving operators immediate visibility into usernames, passwords, card numbers, one-time passcodes, and other sensitive values.

This matters because it turns phishing into an interactive attack. An operator can react to missing fields, change prompts, and keep the victim engaged long enough to capture whatever the fake site is designed to collect. Defenders should treat this as a sign that SMS, email, or ad-based lures may lead to account takeover or payment fraud. Strong protections include phishing-resistant MFA such as FIDO2 or passkeys, plus monitoring for suspicious login flows, repeated verification prompts, and unusual browser-to-server activity.
