Remedies

Defensive measures intended to reduce risk or improve protection.

In cybersecurity, remedies are defensive measures used to reduce risk, limit damage, or restore protection after a weakness is found. They can be technical, such as patching software, tightening permissions, enabling multi-factor authentication, or improving logging and monitoring. They can also be procedural, such as changing access policies, reviewing user roles, or training staff to handle data more carefully.

Remedies matter because security problems rarely disappear on their own. Attackers often exploit weak settings, excessive access, or poor oversight, so effective remedies focus on closing those gaps before they are abused. In collaboration platforms, for example, remedies may include least-privilege access, stronger sharing controls, and regular review of external links and file permissions. Good remedies do not just react to an incident; they reduce the attack surface and make future misuse harder.
